Winter Skincare Tips

Winter can play havoc with our skin! The cold weather, harsh winter wind and central heating steals moisture away from your skin. To reduce chapping, redness, itching and dry skin conditions try these tips…

MOISTURISE WHILST YOUR SKIN IS DAMP
Your skin needs moisture! Apply your favourite moisturiser immediately after washing, whilst your skin is damp. This helps skin seal the dampness and hydrates your skin. Simple but effective!

EXFOLIATE
Exfoliate your skin once a week to slough away those dead skin cells. Moisturiser can’t get in if your skin has a layer of dead skin. Apply exfoliator in circular motions covering all areas including your lips and follow with your favourite moisturiser.

CHANGE YOUR CLEANSER
Cleansers can be drying on your skin. Try using a cleansing balm during the winter months which doesn’t strip the skin but gently melts away makeup leaving your skin super soft and hydrated.

DRINK WATER
Hot drinks tend to be more favourable in the winter months but remember your skin needs hydration from the inside out. A little warm water with lemon is a perfect skin savour and is refreshing too.

SPF
Most of us only use an SPF during the summer months to protect our skin from sun damage but did you know that an SPF can also protect the skin from wind burn. Look for a moisturiser that contains a sun protection or apply one over the top of your regular face cream….Psssstt…It will help against ageing skin too!

WASH IN LUKEWARM WATER
Now I love a hot bath or shower, don’t we all, but in the winter months it can strip your skin so try and wash in lukewarm water where possible.
